Live-site seismic strengthening · 2024
New World Mount Maunganui
A demanding seismic-strengthening rescue delivered through night shifts while the supermarket continued trading.
Project scope
Responsibility carried through the steel package.
Morgan Steel was brought in during August 2024 when the original steel package could no longer be completed. The team mobilised hired night crews, established and cleared the work zone for every shift, and installed substantial overhead strengthening steel without requiring the supermarket to close. When the planned spider-crane methodology was removed, the installation was resequenced around chain blocks and the access available inside the live store.

Known inside Morgan Steel as New World University
A rescue job that accelerated the company.
The combination of a live trading environment, nightly setup and reinstatement, changing access constraints and difficult overhead installation made this project an intensive lesson in sequencing and delivery. Morgan Steel carried that learning forward into every complex existing-building project that followed.
